For thousands of years, humanity has been involved in warfare. Despite the passage of time, one might have expected that we would collectively realize the inefficacy of war. It doesn't work for the purposes that we think, hope, or are told it does and has never left anyone or anywhere in any better condition.
By now, it's hard to believe the idea that war creates safety.
When we recognize that wars are primarily driven by powerful structures, masked as individual conflicts to garner support and mobilize, we can dissipate the illusion that war is a normal part of human existence.
Wars are often fueled by narratives and ideologies that, many times, aren't ours. I believe most people are more interested in living their lives and do not regard the presence of difference as a threat, as it has been the foundation of most of the things we hold dear today.
